Who I Am
I am Dr. Kelsey Stang (she/her) and I am on a mission to educate and optimize health for families of all types.
I am a licensed naturopathic doctor in the state of Oregon. I completed my medical training at The National University of Natural Medicine here in Portland, OR. It was there, in my last year of medical school I gave birth to my first born and simultaneously gave birth to the medical practice I passionately run supporting growing families.
I am the creator of Fertile Future, an individualized program focused on optimizing health for pregnancy and beyond!
I also consult with medical professionals all over the world on up to date research related to hormone health and comprehensive testing with The DUTCH Test.
Why I Care
As an undergraduate student of US History at UC San Diego, I took a course titled The History of Motherhood and became very interested in the topic, particularly how Motherhood was experienced in different cultures around the world. What was it like to be a pregnant person in the Philippines? What sort of birthing traditions are still practiced in Peru? What are the community traditions around the birth of a new member and a new mother in Mexico? My plan was to travel the world, research and write about the intricacies of this lived experience.
While planning for this dream, I had a life changing experience. I realized, I would be sitting on the periphery, observing and hopefully inspiring positive, healthful change that can come from deeper understanding but I would not be directly impacting the experience of motherhood, parenthood and babies. I realized I wanted to be a part of that journey with families. I wanted to be immersed, with my heart open and participating. I hopped on the internet and did what any good millennial would do: I googled. I was looking for a career that would help improve the life, the health and experience of birthing people, families and children. I found naturopathic medicine and never once looked back.
My driving goal in life is to healthfully navigate my own role as mother and to support other families in their transitions into parenthood as best I can. Our children are literally our future. As we improve the health of our bodies and minds, we are directly improving the health of our children and the world they will live in.
